Have you ever imagined a program/machine that can make your decisions for you? Well, now it's been done! Hypothesys, the invention of Elizabeth Crossman, Johnathan Bates, Lydia, Wallace, and Barry. This program allows you to input your situation and comes out with the best possible choice.
All of the above is a basic introduction of the novel by Andrew Pyper called The Trade Mission. The first quarter of the novel is introducing the characters of the book, their aspirations, what they want out of life, their personality, etc. Pyper does a very good job with his character descriptions, he describes their past as if it was his own. The beginning of the book shows the conflicts between the five main characters, such as the conflict between Elizabeth and Wallace, at one point during the first quarter, Wallace offers 20,000 dollars to Elizabeth if she can name the person who he is thinking of ( of course he writes it down on a napkin to prove that he is not cheating ). The following is a short section showing the outcome causing the conflict to be shown ;
""You," I say.
"Beg Pardon?"
"You're thinking of yourself."
"Is that your guess?"
"It's as good as any."
"Take a look and see"
...
"Did you win?" Lydia asks
"No," I say, the napkin held as a veil in front of mye yes. "I wasn't even close."
"How could you not be close? It was one in five!" Barry slaps his knee, snorting again.
"That's the funny part, right, Wallace?" I say. "No wonder you like to play this one. Make it so close they'll never get it."
I turn the napkin over and lay it flat in the center of the table . Let all of them read my own name spelled out in crimson wax. Elizabeth Crossman
"I was thinking of you, Lizzie," Wallace says. "I was looking at the answer the whole time and the answer didn't even know it."
I laugh a false laugh through my nose and feel something fly out"
This section seems to show the sexual tension/the regular tension between the two main characters Crossman and Wallace. What adventures could this group of people get into on an Amazonian rain forest boat ride, what will happen to them? To find out, you'll have to stay tuned to my blogs, which will cover the main themes and points of the book, or you could read it yourself!
